Parameters

  • Copy Mode:
    • Array Copy: Creates a grid of duplicates in rows and columns.
    • (Other modes may exist but were not covered in this transcript—can be added later.)
  • Placement: Sets the reference point of the original object in the resulting pattern (e.g., upper left, lower left).
  • Horizontal Spacing: Sets the horizontal distance between copies.
  • Vertical Spacing: Sets the vertical distance between copies.
  • Spacing Type:
    • Delta Spacing: Specifies the distance between each copy.
    • (Other spacing types, if any, can be added when available.)

Shortcuts

  • Live Preview: Adjustments to any parameter are reflected in real time within the workspace.

How to Use the Multicopy Tool

  1. Activate the Tool
Click the Multicopy icon in the ribbon to open the tool. The ribbon will update with copy options.
  2. Choose a Copy Mode
    • Start with Array Copy to create a rectangular pattern of duplicates.
    • Select the object you want to copy. A live preview of the pattern will appear.
  3. Set Placement
    • Use the Placement parameter to define where the original object appears in the pattern grid (e.g., upper left, lower left).
    • The preview will update dynamically as you change this setting.
  4. Adjust Spacing
    • Set Horizontal Spacing and Vertical Spacing to define the distance between objects.
    • If Delta Spacing is selected, you're controlling the space between copies rather than the total spread.
  5. Apply the Pattern
    • Fine-tune spacing and placement until the preview looks correct.
    • Confirm the operation to create the array in the workspace.

The Multicopy Tool is ideal for quickly duplicating designs into regular, repeatable patterns for production, layout planning, or design symmetry.
