Polyline
Create contours composed of lines in the drawing
Parameters
- Start Coordinate: Allows you to specify the exact (X, Y) coordinate of the starting point.
- Angle Snap Increment: Defines the angle interval (e.g., 15°) used when locking direction with the Shift key.
Shortcuts
- Left Click: Places a point and creates a new line segment.
- Click + Drag: Dynamically creates connected straight segments.
- Shift + Click: Locks the segment direction to the nearest defined angle (based on your angle snap preference).
- Auto-Close: Returning to the start point automatically snaps and closes the contour.
How to Use the Polyline Tool
-
Activate the Tool
Click the Polyline icon in the ribbon to start placing line segments. -
Draw Line Segments
- Click once to place the first point.
- Continue clicking to define connected straight segments.
- Click and drag also creates segments interactively.
-
Use Angle Lock (Optional)
- Hold Shift while placing a point to lock the segment to the nearest angle based on your settings (e.g., 15° increments).
-
Close the Contour
- Move your cursor back to the start point.
- The tool will snap to it and complete a closed contour.
-
Use Coordinates (Optional)
- You can specify an exact start coordinate (e.g., (10, 10)) before placing the first point for precision.
The Polyline Tool is ideal for creating geometric shapes and technical contours composed strictly of straight segments.
