At A Glance
The Scale Tool resizes selected objects proportionally or non-proportionally along the X, Y, and Z axes. It’s designed for precise transformations with control over anchor points, axis locking, and duplication.
Parameters
Scale Type
- 3 Axis: Scale all X, Y, and Z axes.
- 2 Axis: Scale only the X and Y axes.
- 1 Axis: Scale a single axis, either chosen manually or defined interactively.
Placement
Sets the corner of the selection to act as the anchor point for scaling.
Scale Factor
Adjusts the multiplier for each axis independently.
Size
Displays the current dimensions of the scaled selection.
Proportional
Locks all axes to scale together by the same factor (maintains proportions).
Copy
Creates a duplicate of the selection with the applied scaling.
Group
- Enabled: Scales the entire selection as one unit.
- Disabled: Each object scales independently from its own anchor point.
Scale by Corner
If enabled, scaling is anchored to the selected placement corner.
Quick Access
Open the Scale tool at any time by pressing F3
Overview
The Scale Tool in Ibex gives you full control over resizing objects with precision.
You can open the tool by:
- Clicking Scale Tool in the Home Ribbon, or
- Pressing the
F3
shortcut.
Core Controls
The primary scaling parameters are:
Scale Factor: Set the scaling multiplier for each axis.
Size: View the current size of your selection before or after transformation.
Proportional Lock: Enable to ensure all axes scale uniformly.
For example, turning on proportional lock and changing the X scale factor to 1.5
will automatically adjust Y and Z to match. If proportional lock is off, you can independently scale along each axis.
Placement and Anchor Control
Using the Placement setting, you define the anchor point for the scale operation. When Scale by Corner is active, scaling happens relative to this chosen corner.
Group vs. Individual Scaling
With Group enabled, the selected objects scale together as one unit. When disabled, each object is scaled individually using its own anchor point.
Copy Mode
Enable the Copy option if you want to keep the original object and generate a scaled duplicate.
