At a Glance

Draws a circle in the drawing. Four different ways of defining the circle are offered: by a center point plus a typed radius, by a center point plus a second point that the circle passes through, by two opposite corners of a bounding box, or by three points that the circle passes through.

Parameters

Parameter Description
Type Chooses which of the four construction methods above is used.
Center The circle's center point, for the Center and Radius / Center and Point methods.
Radius The circle's radius, for the Center and Radius method.
Point1 / Point2 / Point3 The points the circle passes through, for the Corners / Three Points methods.
Apply / Close Apply finishes and creates the circle; Close cancels out of the tool.

Overview

Draws a circle in the drawing. Four different ways of defining the circle are offered: by a center point plus a typed radius, by a center point plus a second point that the circle passes through, by two opposite corners of a bounding box, or by three points that the circle passes through.

Using Circle

The steps depend on the chosen construction type — Center and Radius: type the radius, then click once to place the center and the circle is created immediately. Center and Point: click the center, then click again where the circle should pass through. Corners: click one corner of an imaginary box, then the opposite corner — the circle fits inside it. Three Points: click three points the circle should pass through.

Choosing a Construction Method

Center and Radius is fastest when the radius is already known. Enter the radius, then click once to place the center.

Center and Point lets you place the center first and then define the radius by clicking a point the circle must pass through.

Corners fits the circle inside an imaginary bounding box defined by two opposite corners.

Three Points creates a circle that passes through three clicked points.

For example, a radius of 2 creates a circle 4 drawing units across.

Result

A closed circular shape at the computed center and radius, built from the construction method and points chosen.
