Rotate
Turns the selected geometry around a chosen pivot point
Table of Contents
At a Glance
Turns the selected geometry around a chosen pivot point by a given angle, around the X, Y, or Z axis. The angle can be typed or swept out interactively by clicking two reference points.
Parameters
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Axis of Rotation | Whether the selection turns around the X, Y, or Z axis. |
| Corner | A small diagram for picking which corner is used as the pivot point. |
| Angle | The rotation angle in degrees. |
| Rotation Point | The coordinates of the pivot the selection rotates around. |
| Copy | Rotates a copy of the selection, leaving the original untouched. |
| Group | Rotates all selected objects together as one group; when off, each rotates around its own center. |
| Apply / Close | Apply completes the rotation immediately; Close exits without rotating anything. |
Overview
Turns the selected geometry around a chosen pivot point by a given angle, around the X, Y, or Z axis. The angle can be typed or swept out interactively by clicking two reference points. A Copy option rotates a duplicate instead of the original, and objects can rotate together as a group or individually.
Using Rotate
- Select the object(s) to rotate.
- Choose which axis to rotate around (X, Y, or Z).
- Set the pivot point — click a point on screen or pick a corner.
- Click a starting reference point, establishing the zero-degree direction.
- Click (or drag) a second point to sweep out the angle — the rotation applies automatically.
The angle can also be typed directly instead of clicking the two reference points.
Setting the Rotation
The rotation can be defined interactively by choosing a pivot and sweeping between two reference points, or by typing the Angle directly. The Axis of Rotation determines whether the turn occurs around X, Y, or Z.
For example, a 90° rotation turns the selection one quarter-turn around the selected pivot and axis.
Group and Copy
Enable Group to rotate multiple selected objects around one shared reference. With Group off, each object rotates about its own center.
Enable Copy to create a rotated duplicate instead of changing the original.
Result
The selected geometry ends up turned by the specified angle around the chosen pivot and axis, replacing the original or adding a rotated copy.
