The Rectangle tool creates rectangular shapes in the drawing.
Rectangles can be created in two ways:
- By Two Corners — click two opposite corners to define the rectangle interactively.
- By Size — enter an exact Width and Height, choose an anchor corner, and place the rectangle with a single click.
Rectangle corners can be created as Square, Filleted, Chamfered, or Reverse Filleted.
Parameters
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Type | Selects whether the rectangle is created by clicking two corners or by entering a fixed size. |
| Corner Type | Selects Square, Filleted, Chamfered, or Reverse Filleted corners. |
| Corner | When creating a rectangle by size, selects which corner is anchored to the placement point. |
| Corner 1 / Corner 2 | Displays or sets the coordinates of the two opposite corners when using the Two Corners method. |
| Height | Sets the overall height of the rectangle. |
| Width | Sets the overall width of the rectangle. |
| Radius | Sets the corner radius used with Filleted, Chamfered, and Reverse Filleted corners. |
| Apply | Creates the rectangle using the current settings. |

Overview
The Rectangle tool provides both an interactive method for quickly drawing a rectangle and a dimension-driven method for creating rectangles at an exact size.
Drawing a Rectangle by Two Corners
Use Two Corners when you want to define the rectangle directly in the drawing.
- Select the Rectangle tool.
- Set Type to the two-corner construction method.
- Click in the drawing to place the first corner.
- Move the cursor toward the opposite corner. A preview of the rectangle updates as you move.
- Click again to place the second corner and complete the rectangle.
You can also press Enter when positioning the second corner to complete the rectangle.
Hold Shift while placing the second corner to constrain the rectangle to a square.
Drawing a Rectangle by Size
Use the size-based method when the rectangle needs exact dimensions.
- Select the Rectangle tool.
- Set Type to the fixed-size construction method.
- Enter the desired Width and Height.
- Use the Corner selector to choose which corner of the rectangle will be attached to the placement point.
- Move the cursor to the desired location in the drawing.
- Click to place the rectangle.
You can also enter the placement position and use Apply to create the rectangle.
The selected anchor corner determines how the rectangle extends from the placement point. For example, choosing the lower-left corner causes the rectangle to extend upward and to the right from that location.
Changing the Corner Style
The Corner Type option changes the shape of all four rectangle corners.
- Square creates standard 90-degree corners.
- Filleted rounds the corners.
- Chamfered replaces each corner with a straight angled edge.
- Reverse Filleted creates an outward or reversed rounded corner.
For corner types that require a size, use Radius to control the amount of corner modification.
Result
When the rectangle is completed, Ibex creates a new closed shape using the selected dimensions, position, and corner settings. The rectangle can then be selected and edited like other geometry in the drawing.
