Measure Tool
Take on-the-spot measurements of the drawing
Table of Contents
At a Glance
Lets you take on-the-spot measurements of the drawing without adding any permanent geometry. Pick what kind of measurement to take — the distance between two points, the length of a single segment, the total length of a whole contour, an angle, or an enclosed area — then click in the drawing to take that reading.
Parameters
| Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
| Point to Point | Measures the straight-line distance between two clicked points. |
| Segment Length | Measures the length of a single clicked segment. |
| Total Length | Measures the combined length of an entire contour. |
| Angle | Measures the angle between two clicked line segments. |
| Area | Measures the enclosed area of a closed contour. |
| Close | Closes the Measure tool. |
Overview
Lets you take on-the-spot measurements of the drawing without adding any permanent geometry. Pick what kind of measurement to take — the distance between two points, the length of a single segment, the total length of a whole contour, an angle, or an enclosed area — then click in the drawing to take that reading. The result shows right on screen as a label. Any number of measurements can be taken one after another, and they stay visible until cleared or the tool is closed.
Using Measure
- Choose the kind of measurement: Point to Point, Segment Length, Total Length, Angle, or Area.
- Click in the drawing to take the reading — two points for Point to Point, one segment for Segment Length, a contour for Total Length, two line segments for Angle, or a closed contour for Area.
- The measured value is displayed as a label. Keep clicking for more measurements, or right-click to step backward — undoing the last click, then clearing completed measurements, then closing the tool.
Measurement Types
- Point to Point measures the straight-line distance between two locations.
- Segment Length reports the length of one selected segment.
- Total Length reports the combined length of an entire contour.
- Angle measures the angle between two line segments.
- Area reports the enclosed area of a closed contour.
Measurements are temporary reference labels; they do not become permanent dimension objects.
Result
A temporary on-screen readout showing the measured distance, length, angle, or area. These are reference-only — right-clicking removes them, and none become permanent dimension objects once the tool is closed.
