Lets you freehand-sketch a shape by dragging the mouse, the way you would with a pencil, instead of clicking individual points or typing dimensions. As you drag, the path you trace is recorded and automatically smoothed into a clean curved outline.

Parameters

No on-screen fields are exposed for this tool — it is entirely driven by the mouse drag, with no numeric entry or option controls to set beforehand.

Overview

Lets you freehand-sketch a shape by dragging the mouse, the way you would with a pencil, instead of clicking individual points or typing dimensions. As you drag, the path you trace is recorded and automatically smoothed into a clean curved outline.

Using Sketch

1. Press and hold the left mouse button where you want to start, then drag to trace the shape you want to draw.
2. If you drag the cursor back close to your starting point, the path automatically closes into a finished closed shape.
3. Otherwise, release the mouse button to finish the sketch where you stop.
4. Right-click at any time to cancel out of the tool.

Open and Closed Sketches

The Sketch tool records the path of the mouse while the left button is held and smooths the traced path into usable curve geometry.

If the cursor is brought back near the starting point before the drag ends, Ibex closes the sketch into a loop. Releasing elsewhere leaves the sketch open.

Result

A shape following the traced path, with sharp direction changes relaxed and the outline smoothed into a clean curve. If the path was closed by dragging back near the start, the result is a closed shape; otherwise it is an open sketched path.
