At a Glance

Replaces a stretch of a shape's outline with a single straight line running directly between two points you click. On a closed shape, the shorter of the two paths between the clicked points is straightened; the longer path around the rest of the shape is kept as-is.

Parameters

No numeric fields or option controls — it works purely by clicking the two points, with only the standard Apply/Close buttons.

Overview

Replaces a stretch of a shape's outline with a single straight line running directly between two points you click. On a closed shape, the shorter of the two paths between the clicked points is straightened; the longer path around the rest of the shape is kept as-is.

Using Linearize

1. Click a point on the shape's outline to mark one end of the section to straighten.
2. Click a second point on the same outline to mark the other end — a preview line is drawn between them.
3. Click Apply to confirm, or back out one click at a time.

Choosing the Section to Straighten

Click two locations on the same outline. The geometry between those points is replaced by one straight segment.

On a closed contour there are two possible paths between the picked points. Ibex straightens the shorter path and leaves the longer path around the rest of the contour unchanged.

Result

A new version of the shape where the section of outline between the two clicked points has been replaced by a straight line.
