Parameters

The Linearize Tool does not include configurable parameters in the toolbar, but it supports interactive input using the mouse and keyboard.

Shortcuts

• Left Click (twice): Set the start and end points of the linear segment to be created.
• Drag Start/End Point: Adjust placement of the segment before finalizing.
• Enter: Confirms the change and replaces the selected section with a straight line.

How to Use the Linearize Tool

1. Activate the Tool
   Click the Linearize icon to enter linearize mode. Your cursor will change to indicate the active tool.
2. Select Segment Location
   • Click once on a contour to set the starting point of the line.
   • Click a second time to set the endpoint. A preview line will appear in orange, showing the section to be converted.
3. Refine the Selection (Optional)
   • Click and drag the start or end point to fine-tune the positioning of the linear segment.
4. Apply the Change
   Press Enter to convert the selected section of the contour into a straight line.

This tool works on any type of contour, including circles, curves, and polygons. It’s especially useful for simplifying curves or making small flat adjustments to existing geometry.
